How to care for your Ethiopian opal:

Ethiopian Opals are "hydrophane", this means that they absorb water and when they do their appearance changes. If the Opals come in contact with water, they will soak it up it like a sponge. If the Opals are submerged in water and allowed to absorb it, they may lose their fire temporarily. The fire and color should come back once the opals have fully dried, this can take a day to a few weeks, depending on how much water they absorbed.

Store your jewelry in an air tight container (a bag will work just fine) in a low humidity environment.

DON’T

Do not wear your jewelry in the ocean or swimming pools, the salt water and chlorine can cause damage.
Don’t wear your jewelry when cleaning. Exposure to heavy detergents and cleaning agents can be detrimental.
Perfume, hairspray and hand lotions may tarnish your jewelry due to the harsh chemicals they contain, these should not be worn when wearing your jewelry (a possibility would be to put on your jewelry AFTER you use these products).
